The Mazda CX-50 is going places that Mazda has never gone before. That includes more rugged style, all terrain ability, and great fuel economy through a shared hybrid powertrain.

We have learned that the CX-50 hybrid will share components with Toyota including the 2.5 liter engine.

The 2.5 L variety Toyota hybrid powertrain is now used in the Camry Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid, Venza, Highlander Hybrid, and Sienna. The system includes 3 electric motors and a battery. One motor generator for the electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and the other two for each axle.
