Coal miners needn't 'shudder in their boots' over technology roadmap: Littleproud
Published at : October 24, 2021
The government's technology roadmap is about making sure coal miners in Central Queensland, or the Hunter Valley today, are not "shuddering in their boots" over their job security, according to Deputy Nationals leader David Littleproud.
It comes as the Nationals have agreed to an in-principle agreement on net zero by 2050 with the Prime Minister.
"Our technology roadmap will keep you in work well beyond 2030, well beyond 2040, and probably towards 2050," Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia.
"And if carbon capture storage is taken up not just here in Australia but around the world – your kids could have a job in a pit – that's the sort of work that we've been trying to work towards."
