Pakistan interference is clearly visible in Taliban's Newly formed Interim Govt #UPSC #TalibanGovt
The Taliban interim government is made up of leadership drawn entirely from its ranks, despite the group's erstwhile promises to form an “inclusive cabinet”. Women, who the Taliban promised will play a ‘prominent role’ in the new Afghan society, were conveniently omitted from the new caretaker government; there was no mention of a ministry for women.
Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund was made PM, the hardliner chief of the Taliban’s powerful decision-making body Rehbari Shura or leadership council— which serves much like a government Cabinet running all the group’s affairs subject to the approval of the top leader. He is on the UN terror list.
Sirajuddin Haqqani as the Interior Minister is a key signal that Pakistan’s ISI has handpicked the cabinet.
The top members of the new cabinet are mostly from the old Taliban regime which ruled the country from 1996 to 2001. Few are from Haqqani Network. They are considered extremely close to the ISI.
